The New Orleans Domino’s is an AAU, Jr. Olympic Basketball organization for girls, ages ten through seventeen, dedicated to athletic and scholastic excellence. Established in 1974, as a non-profit organization, we have always and will continue to emphasize the importance of religion and emphasize the need for self-motivation and skill development.
The Seventh Annual Domino AAU Golf Tournament will be held on Monday June 19, 2006 at the Money Hill Golf & Country Club, a premier golf course in Abita Springs, LA. Attached are forms for: (1) hole sponsorship and (2) for participation as a single or foursome in the tournament. Your generosity will help us continue to extend opportunities to many deserving and dedicated young women. All contributions are tax deductible – TAX ID # 72-096 7770.
Our program has been one of the top five AAU programs in the country for the past eighteen years. Charlie Domino, founder and head coach of many teams over the years, was awarded "Coach of the Decade for Women's AAU Basketball" (1980-1990), a nation wide honor, and "Outstanding Person for Girls' Basketball" in the decade. There are about eighty to one hundred thousand girls participating in the AAU program nationally each year.
Because of our past participation in tournaments throughout the United States, our girls have been exposed to many coaches in many states, thus enabling a number of them to further their education as recipients of scholarships to universities they would never be able to attend otherwise. Over the past twenty-five years our young ladies have received in excess of $18,000,000 toward their education.
The New Orleans Domino's has won fourteen National Championships, and has produced over one hundred-ten All-Americans, three Olympians, sixteen Pan-American players, and one Harlem Globetrotter. Over forty former Domino players are playing professional basketball in the USA and abroad. Over one hundred are now involved in coaching in colleges, high schools and junior high schools.
We also support various youth activities, such as recreation departments, high school and junior high school athletic programs that promote training and education of young men and women in our area. Since 1974, we have been fortunate enough to provide over $250,000 in donations and scholarships to youngsters in need to help them further their education. Unfortunately, due to the economy, and the acceptance of gambling in our area, this past year has not afforded us the monies to donate as we have in the past.
In all of our years of travel, the safety of our girls is our top priority. We have never experienced an off court injury or problem with our young ladies or our coaches. Our entire program is a positive one that encourages an appreciation for group participation as well as self-development and independence for a promising future.
Your generosity and support of the 2006 Golf Tournament can help us continue to extend opportunities to deserving and dedicated young women. Please do not hesitate to call and speak to me personally or drop me an e-mail (Dominosaau@aol.com) if you have any questions concerning our organization. I am proud of our young women and of all that support them.
